Meet Family Martial Arts Academy of NEPA!

Family Martial Arts Academy of NEPA, located at 108 South Main St, Pittston has a modern approach to a traditional martial art while keeping Tang Soo Do as a core. Family Martial Arts Academy has an evolving curriculum with elements from Judo, Hapkido and other fighting disciplines. Family Martial Arts Academy systems are designed to provide a fun, yet disciplined, learning environment. The Family Martial Arts Academy curriculum, along with long and short-term goals, will help students improve and learn respect, concentration, perseverance, self-confidence and physical and mental health. We train weekly on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday and offer Family Classes, LIl' Dragons and Low Impact Classes.

At Family Martial Arts Academy we are serious about Self Defense! Our newest class is now forming which will focus on just that. You will learn from trained experts in the field, basic karate and street techniques which you can use to defend against various attacks including guns and knives.

Family Martial Arts Academy of NEPA is owned and operated by Master Lorri Raemsch who admits, teaching is her life's passion. Master Lorrie began her martial arts training at 16 years old under Master Mary Ann Walsh at the YWCA in Scranton, PA and YMCA in Dunmore, PA. She also trained and taught at Cap's Academy in West Side Scranton with Master Alan Caponigro.  Master Lorrie earned her First and Second Degree Black Belts with Tang Soo Do, Soo Balk Do. Her family moved out of the area and since she couldn't find any Tang Soo Do schools she trained on her own. When she moved back to the area she began teaching martial arts at her daughter's home school group which grew into what it is today.  When Master Lorri returned to training she earned her Third and Master's Degree with UTA Dalton under Master Steele. She wants her students to receive the best training possible, to be able to defend themselves, and to reach their goals. Master Lorrie’s work experience includes retail management at Gertrude Hawk Chocolates and The Disney Store. She also has her ACT 120, was employed at the Taylor Police Department and was a deputy sheriff with Lackawanna County.
