Seminar to Help Businesses Understand Disaster Assistance

Federal disaster assistance is available to businesses impacted by flooding both in physical asset losses as well as sales revenue losses. Unemployment assistance is also available to self employed individuals and employees who were unable to work as a direct result of the disaster. The Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce and Wilkes University Small Business Development Center are co-sponsoring a seminar on Friday, September 30th at 8:00 a.m. at the Pittston Chamber to help businesses understand the types of assistance that are available and the application process. The event is free and open to any business. Registration is requested by contacting the Chamber at 570-655-1424.

Businesses can apply for financial assistance online immediately at www.disasterassistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362, or in person at the Disaster Assistance office.
